Within the Department of City Development, under the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector, performs plan examinations, inspections, and code enforcement on all residential structures in securing compliance with city building, zoning, and related codes.

Performs residential inspections and notify owners of violations of the City Building and Zoning Ordinances and securing compliance with these ordinances.

Examines plans and specifications for primarily residential building construction and alterations. Determines whether such plans satisfy the provisions of the building code; approves or denies applications for building permits. Issues appropriate construction permits.

Inspects primarily residential construction of considerable variety, embracing all sizes and types of projects at various stages of progress as to excavations, footings, foundations, walls, roofs and oversees complete construction up to and including issuance of Final Certificate of Inspection.

Enforces the Racine Zoning Ordinance and makes investigations and decisions regarding zoning complaints.

Maintains records and prepares reports.

Maintains a consistent and reliable attendance record.
