Educational Assistant Salary Schedule

School year position - 37.50 hours per week

Part Time

  • Education/Training: Licensed Practical Nurse Certification: State of Wisconsin, Special Education certification is required by the successful candidate. There is a fee of $100.00 for a five-year license and renewals are necessary as long as you remain in Special Education. Experience:
  • 2 or more years experience working with children preferred.
  • 2 or more years experience in primary care or home health settings preferred.
  • CPR certification
  • First aid training 1:1 supervision and monitoring 100% of the time and this includes and is not limited to: on/off and in the bus, scheduled and as needed medication administration and flushing via J-tube, flushing of G-tube, pulse oximetry, as needed Oxygen, medications per nebulizer, tracheostomy care, trach collar/ HME changes, tracheal suctioning as needed throughout the day, all daily living needs like positioning, transfers, mobility, toileting/diapering, dressing/undressing, building emergency/evacuations, transitioning within the school building and within the community (field trips). The student may require a wheelchair when at school and requires a wheelchair home bussette with an LPN on the bus 100% of the time. The job description as written will cover the most significant duties/responsibilities but does not exclude other work as assigned.

Familiar with organization and operation of school. 2. Ability to work well with students, staff, and public. 3. Ability to work well with medically fragile students. 4. Ability to work with students who communicate in non-conventional manners/systems. 5. Ability to organize and prioritize work load. 6. Work with little or no direct supervision using a standardized protocol. 7. Good independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. 8. Willingness and ability to follow detailed verbal and written directives. 9. Good oral and written communication skills. 10. Must be creative in problem solving. 11. Must be a positive role model for students. 12. Must be dependable and punctual with excellent attendance. 13. Must be aware of sensitive to the needs of students. 14. Must be willing to update educational skills. 15. Must have the physical stamina to work with students with physical handicaps, i.e., reach, stoop/kneel, crouch/crawl, push/pull, lift/carry, climb/balance and run/walk. 16. Must have satisfactory evaluations.
