Job Summary

This position provides comprehensive, outpatient counseling and assessment services to individuals presenting with mental health diagnoses and/or with AODA issues. The Outpatient Therapist (in training) will work collaboratively with the consumer’s clinical team to provide a wraparound approach to recovery. Therapists assigned to the SUD unit must have the basic SUD certification in accordance with DHS 75. This position will be required to provide services in home, school, office, or other community settings.

Essential Duties

  • Provide counseling to individuals presenting with mental health concerns, often accompanied with substance abuse issues.
  • Provide clinical assessment and document bio-psycho-social intake after initial session.
  • Prepare initial treatment plan and ongoing reviews in prescribed time frames.
  • Follow timely documentation requirements, as required by license and clinic standards.
  • Engage patient in treatment, e.g. motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Provide individual counseling, utilizing evidence-based therapies, based on treatment goals.
  • Participate in professional staffing as required by license and DHS 36 and 75.
  • Participate in continuous program quality-improvement efforts, which emphasize treatment engagement, continuation in treatment and successful completion of treatment.
  • Utilizing electronic health record software (TCM – The Clinic Manager) record summary of each encounter, including notations of missed, cancelled appointments, as well as telephone contacts according to Medicare, Medicaid and other clinic standards.
  • Conduct individual and/or family therapy in home, office, school, or other community setting.
  • Join the CCS team for team meetings and collaboration as required.
  • Maintain a professional and confidential relationship with patients.
  • Employee will maintain records that are in compliance with Racine County and Wisconsin regulations.
  • Employee will maintain required production levels.
  • Complete the discharge summary in a timely fashion.
  • Provide oral and written communication that is appropriate to the task and in accordance with agency, DHS 34, 36, 75 and Medicaid standards.
  • Make intervention and assessment decisions using the “Best Practice” philosophy.
  • Work collaboratively with law enforcement, families, other county departments, schools, acute care services providers, and other community resources to coordinate appropriate crisis resolution and referral.
  • Communicate pertinent information on a timely basis and participate in clinical supervision case reviews, staffing's, and/or case planning meetings.
  • Complete all necessary health care/medical and financial record documentation required to maintain complete medical and financial billing records.
  • Provide crisis therapy when indicated (only appropriately credentialed staff).
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.

    Supervision Received
    Receives supervision from the Assistant Clinical Director and CCS Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth with mental health issues is preferred.
  • Unrestricted APSW or LPC-IT required with the expectation to receive an unrestricted LCSW or LPC within 4 years. Unrestricted LCSW or LPC is preferred.
  • CSAC, SAC, or SAC-IT is preferred.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and automobile insurance are required.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.

Salary is Based on Following Qualifications:

Master's Degree with No License/Training License: $60,320/yr. - $82,180/yr.
Master's Degree with Full License: $64,916/yr. - $86,548/yr.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally using written, verbal or electronic formats.
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationships with members served and community partners.
  • Familiarity with a variety of evidence-based practices appropriate to members served.
  • Working knowledge and experience with outpatient services including DHS 36, 75, Patient Rights, 42 CFR and all regulations governing State of Wisconsin .
  • Ability to develop and maintain an effective body of knowledge regarding BHS’s responsibilities to the community and consumers served.
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to relate to diverse economic and ethic population.
  • Ability to work independently, yet fully participate as part of a therapeutic clinical team of professionals including mental health and substance abuse therapists, psychiatrists, APNPs and nurses.
  • Ability to effectively manage your time, prioritize duties, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and negotiate solutions.
  • Technically proficient with Microsoft office products, internet browsing and EMR.
  • Interacts with the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able and willing to work evenings.
