Position Summary
1. Teachers (4116.31)
a. Teachers shall instruct students to the best of their ability within the curriculum plan adopted by the Board. They should utilize the services of the Division of Instructional Services and their building principal so that their instructional technique may be continually improved.
b. Teachers are expected to participate actively in committees that deal with planning, research, curriculum, public relations or other professional activities undertaken in their school or in the system. Attendance at building and District faculty meetings is a part of the teacher's responsibility.
c. Teachers are expected to exercise proper supervision and care over all furniture, books, supplies and equipment provided for their use; to instruct students in the care and proper use of school property; and to report promptly any abuses calling for administrative or legal action.
d. Teachers must maintain the kind of pupil classroom control which makes for the best learning situation for the class. Although the prime responsibility for classroom control rests with the teachers, they should keep the principal informed and seek his/her assistance in this matter when necessary.
e. Teachers have a responsibility for the management and supervision of all of the students of the school and in this connection may be given specific assignments outside of the classroom by the principal.
f. Teachers shall open and close the school's sessions or class schedules punctually at the hours designated by the Board.
g. Teachers are to acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations of the Board and to enforce them within their jurisdiction.
h. Teachers shall closely observe the pupils to determine defects which hinder successful work and shall report such situations to the principal.
i. Teachers shall prepare such lesson plans, records and reports as are required by the principal or central office.
j. Teachers should work cooperatively and communicate as needed with parents in the best interests of the students.

Licenses and Certifications: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching license.
Qualified candidates must be have IB experience / training.
Work Environment:
Physical Demands:
· Must be able to spend up to 70% of the day walking.
· Able to walk or run quickly through hallways and stairwells in an emergency situation.
· Ability to stand for prolonged periods, respond to active crisis situations and support student movement.
· Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance
· Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
· Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
· Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment
· Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
· Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
· Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
